PARK FAMILY TO BE PRESENT AT WILLIE PARK’S ANNIVERSARY
(A Musselburgh event to savour)
The organisers are pleased that descendants of Willie Park Sr. have agreed to attend the Musselburgh & Inveresk Community Council’s competition at Musselburgh Old Links on Saturday 27th March and at the Gala Dinner afterwards in the Brunton Hall.
Sheila Baird, great grand daughter of Willie along with her husband, Archie, the well-known golf historian will attend. Also coming along is Mungo Park, great grandson of Willie, who has also agreed to speak at the Dinner alongside Musselburgh’s own Alex Hay. Other members of the family include Ian and Nigel Finlay, great great grand sons, landlords of the very popular Staggs Bar in Musselburgh. The brothers have kindly agreed to sponsor souvenir medals which will be presented to all competitors in the Tournament. The new landlord of the historic Mrs Formans, John Whiteside, is sponsoring the winners’ medals.
Lionel Freedman, organiser, is delighted with the number of entries to the tournament and dinner tickets for the Gala Dinner are in great demand and should fill the large hall at the Brunton.
