The World Hickory Open Members Club
The World Hickory Open (WHO) members club for people who are passionate about maintaining the heritage of the game. With a membership that draws from across the world, our mission is to cultivate a thriving golfing society that signifies the very best in the game — where the etiquette, heritage and camaraderie is at the centre of its values. The WHO members club is intended to provide its members and guests the opportunity to spend quality time with others with the same passion for the game and its history.
Musselburgh lies just five miles east of Edinburgh and is a strong contender for the title of Scotland’s oldest town. It was first settled by the Romans in the years following their invasion of Scotland in AD80. They built a fort a little inland from the mouth of the River Esk and bridged the river here. In doing so they established the line of the main eastern approach to Scotland’s capital for most of the next two thousand years.
Musselburgh Links hosts an ancient golf course – recognised as the oldest in Scotland – apparently used by James IV, in 1504, and home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers from 1836 to 1891. Sharing the links is Musselburgh Racecourse, which holds regular meetings.
The WHO Members club located at the oldest course in the world, Musselburgh Links. It has been the venue of 6 Open Championships and the home club of 6 Open Champions.
